Weekend reflections…

This weekend…

…I finally went to see my GP about my dodgy knee (injured in South Africa) and constantly swelling up foot. I’ve been prescribed some weird painkiller that I think was named with someone’s left over scrabble letters.

…I was a proud Girlguiding leader as I watched 3 of my Senior Section girls and 1 of my Guides perform amazingly in our County Show.

…I watched a woman who may have been drunk lay into her husband on the bus. Swearing and cursing him out. It wasn’t pretty. He just sat there and took it. Ugh.

…I learned how to make chocolate coins. Man is that more complicated than you’d think. Miss Sweetroot persevered and we giggled at our rookie errors. Mini Kahuna gave up halfway through and decided to empty the DVD shelf and put them all on the sofa. And then make three piles of DVDs on the coffeetable. As he sorted them into his coffeetable piles, he brought one over to me ‘This is Daddy’s’. It was the High School Musical boxset. I said ‘Are you sure that’s not your sister’s?’ and he quite categorically stated that no ‘It is Daddy’s’.

…I got new inspiration to get back to the gym ASAP in the form of the photo my friend took of me…Does my bum look big on this Tweenies scooter? (I believe it does – apparently this is the better of the two photos she snapped on her phone!). The Mini Kahuna is hidden behind me on his new scooter – I don’t usually make a habit of taking transport on kids scooters!

…I got to hear Nicky Gumbel preach in person. Nicky Gumbel is the face of Alpha (I know you might think it’s Bear Grylls from the adverts) and until Sunday I’d only ever heard him on a DVD. He was very down to earth and quite funny, though I struggled to understand his accent. did the Alpha course a couple of months after I started going to church. I took two of my friends (one Christian, one not) along (safety in numbers). We were fine as it was not at all intimidating as we thought it could be, and they were very accepting and respectful of our questions, skepticism and different viewpoints. I did Alpha a few more times as friends asked me to go with them (that safety in numbers thing again). Always been lovely, though each course done differently.

…I finally got caught up on all my Girlguiding admin. Our census invoices didn’t come out until the day after I came down with flu so I’m a little late in paying for the girls (sorry Girlguiding!). They have this horrendous system where I have to log in with a membership number and complicated password which is a pain in the arse to navigate. I couldn’t write cheques earlier in the week thanks to my cafĂ© tumble which rendered me unable to write properly for a few days. But now I’ve got our end of term letters ready to go.

…it snowed some more. It didn’t stick around this time.

…Hearts lost the cup final. I’m still pouting. I purposely didn’t try to go because they were playing St Mirren, and last time I watched Hearts playing St Mirren it was truly awful to watch. Like we were appalled at how badly our team played. We thought I might be Hearts’ bad luck charm, so I avoided going today! I now know it’s not me.

…I got reminded that it’s 18 sleeps until we go to London! Yippee! I’m very excited.

…I napped instead of making a pot of chilli. I need to put myself on the naughty step for that.

and that was my weekend!

  1. Hehehe I love the photo of you on the scooter! I do the same thing semi-regularly at work, so it doesn’t strike me as all that strange. ;-)
